According to a report from yesterday, it was rumored that Blizzard could be getting ready to announce the closed beta for StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void. The closed beta is rumored for an end March/early April launch and it looks like the rumors were right on the money. Blizzard has since announced and confirmed that the closed beta will begin on the 31st of March.
The bad news is that it looks like for the initial rollout, the invites will only be given to the media and eSports personalities, but it is expected that eventually it will make its way to regular gamers to get a taste of the game ahead of its release. The closed beta will also see the introduction of a new Protoss unit called the Adept.
According to Blizzard, “This initial phase of the closed beta will include ongoing changes to previously-announced MP units as well as the introduction of a new Protoss unit – the Adept. Players with access to the closed beta will be able to check out PVP multiplayer action as well as Archon Mode, a cooperative/competitive MP mode, where two players share and control one base/army against another opponent or team.”
There is still no word on when the game will be released to the public but with the game entering into closed beta, we suppose we are now one step closer to seeing its release. We also reckon that there will be plenty of changes that Blizzard will be making so do note that what you see in the closed beta might not make it to the final game.
