According to a report by Variety, the Luthor star and tentatively future Bond, is being considered for the lead villain role in Star Trek 3 (2016). The rumors also hint that the actor is already in early talks with the production house. Bryan Cranston, was also rumored as being considered for the role, villain role, which now seems like a baseless internet banter. With the Star Trek franchise highlighting the classic characters such as the Romulans, and then Khan, it seems believable that the Klingons might take the spot next. However, there’s no official confirmation regarding all that as of now.
All being said, Elba appeals to be an appropriate choice for the role. Although, the actor is involved in the upcoming movie Avengers: Age of Ultron. He also plays the role of title detective in the BBC crime drama Luther, and the internet is already buzzing with rumors of him replacing Daniel Craig as the next James Bond. While that is just another rumor, at least not for some time as Craig is still in contact for Spectre (which script has been leaked).
The plot synopsis of the Star Trek 3 is being kept under wraps, though director Roberto Orci said earlier that the movie shall see enterprise crew into ‘deep space’, as they take off for their much-awaited five-year mission. William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy were also in talks regarding the reprise of Kirk and Spock in Star Trek 3, as the ‘future alt-timeline’ versions of the characters. However, the fate of this plan seems unclear, given the sad demise of Nimoy. Photo credit: UK Aid
