Once Microsoft and Samsung resolved their disputes it was the start of a new partnership. This partnership saw some Microsoft apps like OneDrive, OneNote and Skype bundled on the Galaxy S6 in a separate folder called Microsoft Apps. Both companies today issued a press release announcing that they have decided to take this partnership one step further. Samsung will now be bundling Microsoft Office apps in some of its Android tablets starting later this year.
Some of Samsung’s Android tablets will come with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive, OneNote and Skype pre-installed “in the first half of 2015.” Users will be able to take advantage of all of these apps for free.
Businesses that purchase tablets through Samsung’s business-to-business sales channels will get access to three versions of Office 365, Business, Business Premium and Enterprise, as well as the Knox security solution from Samsung.
“We believe our suite of premium mobile products coupled with Microsoft’s productivity services will offer users the mobility they need in both their personal and business life,” said SangChul Lee, executive vice president of the Strategic Marketing Office, IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics.
It was also revealed today that Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge owners will receive 100GB of additional free cloud storage for two years through OneDrive. Users will certainly appreciate it as both flagships don’t have microSD card support so external expansion is not possible.
