That being said, what else could we expect from the device in terms of specifications? Interestingly enough a recent rumor has surfaced which seems to hint that the upcoming Samsung Orbin could be powered by a rather powerful chipset in the form of the Samsung Exynos 7420. If you’re wondering why this chipset sounds so familiar, it is because it is the same chipset used in the Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone.
So why on earth would Samsung want to use a chipset designed for a phone to be used in a smartwatch? It’s not like a smartwatch would need all that power, right? Chances are it won’t be for power purposes, but rather for power efficiency purposes. Samsung’s newer chipsets have been designed to be more powerful but at the same time more efficient when using energy, which could in theory make the Samsung Orbis have better battery life.
It is also possible that maybe Samsung could use a toned down version since we doubt a smartwatch would really need to use 8-cores. No word on when the watch will be launched but since Samsung has no events planned in the near future, chances are September during IFA 2015 might be a safe bet.
