xcover-3We’re sure some users were a little disappointed when the Samsung Galaxy S6 was announced without any protective features such as water and dust resistance. However there are rumors that Samsung could be bringing those features to the Galaxy S6 Active instead. Interestingly enough a new rumor has surfaced that despite the handset being billed as an “Active”, it might forgo the use of a heart rate sensor.

This is according to a Reddit user (via Phandroid) who claims to have had a sit down with a Samsung rep in Europe. When asked about the Galaxy S6 Active, the rep reportedly told him that the phone might be passing on the use of a fingerprint and heart rate sensor in favor of a microSD card slot. Like we said considering that the Active handset is supposed to be a brand that targets the active user, it would seem odd that the heart rate monitoring feature would be removed.

The fingerprint sensor we guess that might not be necessary, but we’re certain that active users would no doubt love to have a heart rate monitor on their phones, right? However according to the poster, the rep told him that the handset was still in its prototype stage so there is a chance that the design and features could still be changed. The handset is also said to be targeted for a mid-summer release but until we hear from Samsung officially, do take it with a grain of salt for now.
