Now that Samsung’s new smartphones have been unveiled we can focus our attention on what’s great and what’s not so great about the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The latter is Samsung’s first smartphone to feature dual edge display, the display curves on both sides of the smartphone, and it appears to be getting a lot of positive reviews. A Samsung executive has hinted that the company might bring its dual edge display to the next Galaxy Note handset, which if history is any indication, will arrive this fall.
Samsung’s first Edge device was the Galaxy Note Edge. It was unveiled at IFA 2014 in September last year. It was only after this smartphone was launched that rumors began to circulate that Samsung might do something similar with the Galaxy S series.
A report out of Korea points towards a statement made by Samsung’s executive vice president of product strategy team, Roh Tae-moon, that “There is a possibility that Samsung will introduce the curved display for the Galaxy Note lineup.”
It remains to be seen though if it is the Galaxy Note Edge 2 that receives the dual edge display treatment or the Galaxy Note 5. Since both devices are not going to arrive till the fall we still have a long way to go, and surely we’ll hear and see many rumors and leaks, before finding out for sure what Samsung has up its sleeve.
