Samsung has already used its Gear VR headset to deliver immersive virtual reality experiences. For this purpose the company often teams up with other outfits just so it can increase the amount of content that Gear VR users can access on their headsets. Its latest partnership is with the iconic italian car maker Lamborghini. Both companies have worked together to create a virtual driving experience for the Lamborghini Huracan.
Samsung’s virtual reality headset is a bit different from the headsets that Sony, Oculus and Valve are building. It doesn’t have a display of its own rather it relies upon a Galaxy Note 4. Without that device the Gear VR is virtually useless.
At the Geneva Motor Show 2015 Lamborghini set up a booth with Gear VR headsets hooked up with the Galaxy Note 4 and it allowed people to experience in virtual reality what it would feel like to drive the company’s new supercar.
The experience took users to the picturesque Amalfi coast in Italy before allowing them to speed on the iconic Imola racing circuit all without ever having to so much as fire up the Lamborghini Huracan.
Of course there’s a video that you can see in which people have a Gear VR strapped to their face as they experience the joys and thrills of being in a (virtual) supercar.
