We have known about Recon Jet HUD glasses for quite a while now. They are often referred to as “Google Glass for sports.” While the future of Google Glass hangs in the balance Recon Jet is finally going to ship starting March 30th. It has already been delayed a couple of times so people who have been waiting for Recon Jet to arrive will now breathe a sigh of relief.
Late last year the company said that the final design of Recon Jet had been locked in. One major change it made then was the re-articulation of Jet’s computing engine which is now raked upwards as opposed to previous designs. This will improve viewing angle and camera orientation.
Recon Jet has also been tested to IP65 standard for water resistance. According to the company this wearable device is good enough to handle “the worst possible rainstorm.”
It has finally been confirmed that Recon Jet starts shipping March 30th. To make up for delays the company is going to ship an extra battery and clear lenses with all packages.
Recon Jet runs on a modified iteration of Jelly Bean which doesn’t have any Google services. However it does have a number of apps built-in which will be useful when users take it cycling or running with them. The Recon Jet glasses can now be purchased for $699.
