We have know for a while now that Sony is working on firmware version 2.50 for the PlayStation 4. It was reported recently that Sony is also allowing select members to beta test this update before it is released for everybody else. Today the company released official PS4 system update 2.50 screenshots. The screenshots show some new improvements that will come part and parcel of the update. Sony has not yet confirmed the release date.
The screenshots were released to the press by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia. This software update carries codename “Yukimura.”
PS4 system update 2.50 screenshots are focused on the new accessibility features which include the ability to invert colors, zoom on the screen, change size and thickness of the font, increase contract and also redefine controls on the DualShock 4 controller.
The press release does point out that these visual changes are only limited to the dashboard and that they will not appear when a user broadcasts a live stream.
These screenshots don’t reveal a feature that’s expected to come with this software update. PS4 firmware 2.50 is expected to allow gamers to backup their games to an external drive. The update may also enable the Netflix app to pick up streaming from where it left off instead of reloading the entire app.
