The much awaited PlayStation 4 system update 2.50 has finally been released. We had been hearing about it for a few weeks now. Yesterday the confirmation came in from Sony. It detailed all of the features that this update brings to the console. PlayStation 4 owners can now fire up their consoles and download the latest firmware.
Sony codenamed this update “Yukimura” and said that it brings an “onslaught” of new features for the PlayStation 4. Tweaks have also been made to the user interface as well. The overall experience has been significantly improved.
The suspend / resume feature finally makes it way to PlayStation 4 through this update. Sony had unveiled this feature back in 2013 but it took over a year for it to arrive on the console. It will let players jump in and out of their games by simply pressing the PS button.
Support for external USB drives is also included in PlayStation 4 system update 2.50. Just hook it up via USB and transfer games, patches, download data, settings, screenshots and video clips from the internal storage to the external USB drive.
PlayStation 4 system update 2.50 weighs in around 245MB so if you’re on a slow internet connect it will take some time to download. It’s rolling out today and should have gone live in almost all regions by now.
