We have heard in the past that Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be released in either April or June 2015. That doesn’t appear to be the case. A video appeared online earlier today which featured Hideo Kojima, the series creator, himself revealing the Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain release date. Earlier this week Konami put up a teaser on its website and had us waiting until March 4th when it was due to make some announcement regarding this title.
The leaked video was spotted today by NeoGAF soon after it appeared on IGN’s Italian affiliate. It was later pulled but a screenshot was obtained from the video which shows the Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain release date.
The video showed Kojima, revealing through a translator, that Kojima Productions is in the process of “putting the finishing touches” on this title which will be released for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and the PC.
Kojima also tackles the question that whether this will be the last Metal Gear title. Recounting all of the previous titles that he has designed himself, Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, five numbered Metal Gear Solid titles and Peace Walker, Kojima described it all as one Metal Gear “saga.”
“With Metal Gear Solid 5, I’m finally closing the loop on that saga. In that sense, this will be the final Metal Gear Solid. Even if the Metal Gear franchise continues, to me, this is the last Metal Gear,” he said.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is expected to be released on September 1st, 2015.
