Meizu And Nokia Smartphone Collaboration Rumors Return Again

meizu-mx4Earlier this year there were rumors that Meizu and Nokia would be working together to create a smartphone. Given that Nokia can’t produce smartphones under its brand due to their agreement with Microsoft, what they could technically do is turn to partnerships in which the other company’s brand would be used.

The rumor was later shot down but now thanks to a new post made on Weibo, it seems that those rumors have surfaced once again. The latest rumor comes in the form of a banner that was posted on Weibo. The banner doesn’t show much save for some text that talks about a certain MX4 Supreme, and the words “Meizu powered by Nokia”.

Of course it would be pretty easy to create such a banner but if the adage is anything to go by, when there’s smoke, there is fire. After all Meizu could simply want to keep the project under wraps until they’re ready for an official announcement. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen companies deny rumors only to have them proven at a later date.

There is also reference made to the Lumia 1030, a handset that has yet to be announced (rumored to be cancelled) which features a 50MP camera, so we have to wonder if the Lumia 1030’s camera technology could be part of the MX4 Supreme. In any case it should best be taken with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to hear the official word from Meizu/Nokia regarding the latest rumor.
