It is safe to say that the LG G2 from 2013 was one of the company’s handsets that really brought a lot of attention to the brand, resulting in an even more successful launch of the LG G3 and creating high anticipation of the LG G4. That being said this year would make the handset close to 2 years old now but it looks like LG has not forgotten about the device.
According to a recent tweet by LG India (via PhoneArena), it has been revealed that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the handset is due for a release in Q2 2015, although no specific dates were mentioned. This isn’t the first time we have heard about the LG G2 receiving the Android 5.0 update as early this year, a video surfaced which showed the update on the phone.
However back then it was still pretty much anyone’s guess as to when LG would release the update, but thanks to LG India’s tweet we now have a rough idea. Of course given that it is a tweet by LG India, there is a chance that the release timeframe they have given might only be for the Indian market, but hopefully it isn’t and that the Q2 release is a general one.
In any case we will still be keeping our eyes peeled for more information about the Android 5.0 update for the LG G2, so if you’re still holding onto the phone after all these years, do check back with us at a later date for the details.
