Last month LG unveiled the VR for G3 headset. It works like the Gear VR does for the Galaxy Note 4. You just pop in the smartphone and its display is then used to provide the VR experience. LG worked with Google on this headset and the design actually come from Google Cardboard, but LG opted to make it out of plastic instead. Today the company announced that the LG G3 VR headset is available in the United States.
It may be a last attempt on LG’s part to move as many G3 units as possible before it unveils the LG G4 on April 28th. This is probably why the company is giving away the VR headset for free with every purchase of a new LG G3 at participating stores in the country.
G3 owners who get the VR headset can then experience quite a few VR compatible apps and games that are available through the Google Play Store.
Aside from the VR headset LG is also providing an in-box QR code which will unlock a free download of select VR gaming content.
The company has said that this promotion will run in the United States while supplies of the virtual reality headsets last. It has not confirmed if the headset will ever be sold through retailers.
