3D printers are increasingly becoming popular because of the fact that they offer virtually limitless possibilities once you get down to creating something. These days the market is filled with relatively cheap 3D printers so this doesn’t even require a substantial investment anymore. Autodesk today launched a new app called Tinkerplay. The app is aimed at children. It’s easy to use and kids can design their own toys through it before printing them out with a 3D printer.
Autodesk is widely known for its popular AutoCAD design software. It’s safe to say that the company has a lot of experience when it comes to design software.
Tinkerplay makes the entire process very easy. The app has pre-loaded character templates as well as modifiable parts which children can use to design their own creations. It’s also possible to create your own parts with customizable colors and textures.
Once the designing process is completed only printing remains. A 3D printer can then be used to bring the creations to life.
The Tinkerplay app is available as a free download for iOS, Android and Windows. It’s actually a new manifestation of Modio, an iPad app that worked with desktop 3D printers, before it was acquired by Autodesk.
