The iPhone 5c was a bit different from Apple’s recent smartphones as metal and glass weren’t the defining features of its design like almost every other model. Many say that this was a failed experiment on Apple’s part which is why we haven’t seen the iPhone 5c’s successor yet. Recently there have been rumors that Apple is developing a smaller iPhone, one that’s now referred to as the iPhone 6c, and it’s believed to have a 4-inch display. Today a purported iPhone 6c rear shell has been outed in a picture.
When Apple stuck with the 4-inch display for the iPhone 5s many criticized the company for not following the market trend of larger displays. That changed with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that came with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays respectively.
Then why would Apple want to go back to a 4-inch display like the one you find on an iPhone 5 or iPhone 5s? Apparently it’s so that the iPhone can appeal to people who don’t like larger displays.
The images show differences between the rear shells of iPhone 5c and the purported iPhone 6c. Some changes are instantly noticeable like the elongated camera cut out, a different camera cut out and a changed layout for the microphone and speaker grilles.
The possibility exists that what we see hear could be an elaborate fake or simply a part of the many fake iPhones that can easily be obtained in China.
So far Apple has not even hinted that it’s going to launch a smaller iPhone which is why we must take this with a grain of salt.
