iPad Air 2 Given Out To UK MPs

It looks as though the iPad Air 2 has gotten its fair share of spotlight over in the UK, where all 650 Members of Parliament (MPs) in the UK House of Commons will be on the receiving end of this particular tablet after the general election that is set to happen later this May. It is said that approximately 209 of the governing body’s members already own an iPad, but the iPad Air 2 will be standard issue when the new initiative kicks off.

It is said that the standard model will be the 16GB Wi-Fi plus cellular version, and it remains to be seen as to whether the MPs will be able to choose a color of their own liking. However, it is noted that the iPads will be up to the task of meeting requirements for a “secure, SIM-enabled tablet with good life expectancy and capable of supporting future upgrades,” at least according to the House of Commons Commission Chairman John Thurso.

Making use of iPads has seen the UK government save approximately $4.5 million in printing costs to date, so we might just see an increase in that figure after the general elections are over. It is also interesting to note that both Dutch and New Zealand governments are in favor of iPad use.
