The HTC One M9 was introduced at MWC 2015 but unfortunately the company did not announce when the device would make its way to customers, at least until recently when the device was confirmed for a release in Taiwan on the 16th of March, which is today. Unfortunately if the reports are any accurate, the launch in Taiwan has been delayed.
According to the reports, it seems that there is a software issue on the HTC One M9 which has caused HTC to delay the release of the phone. The company reportedly confirmed the delay to CNA stating that there were plans to issue the latest version of the software to the handset before it was released to the public, although some users believe that the reason is due to a software issue hence the delay and the need to update it.
The issue, if true, sounds quite serious as it could lead to boot failure which is something HTC definitely does not need to mar the launch of the handset, especially when you consider that the HTC One M9 is the company’s flagship handset of 2015 and the fact that HTC has plenty of other companies to compete with, such as Samsung.
It is unclear how long it will take for HTC to release an update for the alleged software issue, but hopefully it won’t be too long. It is also unclear as to how this might affect the handset’s international release, but we’re hoping that there won’t be too big of an impact. In the meantime we will be keeping an eye out for the HTC One M9’s release in other countries.
