This patented hinge will enable a device to open up to a flat, 180 degree position, all without having to sport one of those unsightly, protruding hinges. Apparently, this unique system would see both sides actually fold into one another. Microsoft did describe this to be a “multi-axis hinge mechanisms for mobile electronic devices that allow for at least 180′ determinate pivoting motion between two portions of the devices.”
While we can continue to speculate on what this patent will attest to eventually, some have already stepped forward to say that it will pertain to the Microsoft Courier, which is a dual screen device that Microsoft never really managed to get around to releasing it to the masses.
