As a PlayStation 4 owner I’ve been waiting for HBO Go to arrive. Nearly four months back the app was launched on the Xbox One and ever since that day I have been anxiously waiting for it to arrive on Sony’s console as well. Today the wait ends. HBO GO for PS4 has finally been released. The app will be available for download later today.
Senior Vice President, Business Development, SCEA Phil Rosenberg said “We know you’ve been looking forward to this day. We are excited to announce that the HBO GO app for PS4 will be ready to download later today.
HBO Go for PlayStation 4 isn’t all that different from its counterpart for the PlayStation 3. In fact the new app functions just like the PS3 app which was launched about a year back.
With this app PS4 owners will be able to watch HBO content, which includes both new and classic shows, though since this is not an over-the-top streaming service users will be required to sign in with cable credentials. Supported providers include Dish, Verizon, Time Warner Cable and others.
The timing is right for this release since we’re not over a month away from Game of Thrones season 5. This gives people who haven’t watched the series yet a full month to catch up on the first four seasons, all of which are readily available for streaming through HBO Go.
