It’s not a big deal but Google apparently wants to make it simpler for you. A report from Re/code has revealed that Google could be working on a project that would allow users to receive and pay their bills directly within Gmail itself. In fact the service is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of the year, assuming everything goes according to plan.
The service is dubbed Pony Express which is an odd name for Google so it could be that it is just a codename. According to the alleged documents obtained by Re/code, the service could help sort bills out easily through the use of a specially dedicated folder as shown in the screenshot above.
Users will also be allowed to share a bill with another Gmail user which might come in handy for those who are living with other roommates and where the bills are typically split. It’s an interesting idea and would streamline the process. Prior to this Google has allowed users to send money to other users using Google Wallet, so the idea of being able to pay your bills within Gmail itself doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch.
