To activate full screen mode, Google says that all you will have to do is touch an empty spot on the map and it should bring you to full screen mode. Granted the full screen mode doesn’t really big you that much more information, but it does remove certain elements from the UI that might otherwise be a bit distracting while you’re using the app.
Google has also updated the app and has given it improved voice search and transit directions, so if you’re using public transport you should be able to see transit line colors on the map when you get transit directions. The improved voice search should also come in handy if you’re driving and you’re trying to get to a specific place.
Users will be able to tap on the mic and say “directions to” followed by their destination in order to get the results, thus saving the user from having to keep glancing at the screen or typing which can be hazardous when driving.
