Google Camera Takes On Amazon Rainforest At Ultra Fast Speeds

Google has certainly dipped its fingers in a wide range of industries, including the vision of a self-driving car, but this time around, the Internet search giant has ventured into a place where it is virtually impossible for a regular car to make a trek through – right at the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Basically, the folks over at Google have attached a Google camera on zipwire, and upon letting it go, this particular camera is capable of achieving speeds of up to 100 km/h (62 mph) on its zip wire journey.

Is there is a reason for this? Just as how there is a method to madness, the reason Google went through all this trouble is to ensure that it has a real complete Street View listing – even in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, or so it seems. The laborious work would comprise of setting up the entire shebang, where the wire will then allow the Google Street View camera to capture new 360-degree images of the trees, all the way from the top to the tip.

This round Trekker camera would tip the scales at approximately 40lb (18kg), where it will come equipped with 15 lenses and has the ability to snap photos every 2.5 seconds, and this is the first time is goes through the jungle without being worn by a walker with a backpack.
