Europe Roaming Fees To Stay Till 2018

It was a couple of years ago when we brought you word on how the EU Commission intends to bar all roaming charges by the time 2016 arrives. Well we are just one year away from that, and it does look as though things are moving in the right direction, although a roaming-free European Union might be a more difficult nut to crack.

The European Parliament does have its agenda to cease the implementation of roaming charges in member states, but have also backed carriers who claim that they need to charge customers due to the space taken up on foreign carriers’ networks. Of course, one should not forget that a number of European telecommunication companies do happen to have networks in other countries, among them include Vodafone, T-Mobile, Telefonica, and Telenor.

So far, we have heard that roaming fees in Europe have experienced a steady but sure drop in the past two years, and carriers throughout Europe at this point in time do have tariffs in place so that the price will be reduced even further, although a total removal of fees should not happen next year, but 2018 might be a more realistic target. Better late than never, don’t you think so?
