Facebook has made a couple of interesting announcements today at its F8 conference. The social network is finally making it easier to share Facebook videos on other sites easily and swiftly. Previously one had to indulge in a bit of trickery to make this happen. Now it’s going to be as easy as clicking on a button, copying an embed code, and pasting it on another website.

For years now it has been possible to upload videos on Facebook. Sharing videos already uploaded to the social network is easy enough too. Click to share a video to your timeline or somebody else’s. Embedding has always been a pain though.

The aforementioned trickery involved digging into a video’s source code and then trying to piece together something that could work on another site. Those who were not willing to put that effort in would simply go to YouTube which offers one-click copy of an embed code that just needs to be pasted.

That’s more or less how it will work on Facebook from now on. Clicking on the aptly named “embed” button will provide users with a code that they can copy and paste. The video will automatically pop up on the site once the code is pasted correctly.

It’s a win-win situation for the users and the social network. They get easily embeddable videos. Facebook gets the views.
