Dropbox today announced the release of a new update for its Android app. The company’s updated app for Android brings a new feature, a PDF viewer, which will make it much easier for users to get rich previews for all PDFs, regardless of whether they started in Dropbox or not.
Even if you’re offline you can preview a PDF with Dropbox if it was emailed to you and it’s stored locally on your device. From the preview itself you can tap the Share button to generate a shared link automatically for that PDF. All PDFs that are shared this way will be added automatically to the “Sent files” folder in your Dropbox.
Another new feature that the update app brings is in-document search. This works with PDFs, Word docs and PowerPoint presentations. The feature will come in handy when dealing with lengthy files as you will be able to jump right to the information that you require.
Dropbox says that this update is part of its commitment to help you do more on mobile devices. The updated Dropbox for Android app will be rolling out over the next few days. Keep checking for the update in the Google Play Store if your device doesn’t download the update on its own.
