Despite all the regulatory hurdles and what not there is actually a thriving drone enthusiast community. Couple love for quadcopters with Star Wars and you’ve got some great creations. Some enthusiasts are using drones to bring a few of the best ships from Star Wars to life. Given that Star Wars is a global phenomenon it will not be a surprise if this trend catches on and completely blows up in the years to come.
Just last month the internet was enamored with a drone inspired by the iconic Millennium Falcon from Star Wars. It goes to show how much work the enthusiasts are willing to put in only to see Star Wars ships come to life.
Today we have got some footage of a drone modified to look like the Speeder Bike from Return of the Jedi to share. This is the creation of Adam Woodworth, a hardware engineer at Google, who used a 12-inch Hasbro toy and then worked out a custom rotor layout so that the look was preserved while still having enough lift.
The love for Star Wars is not limited to cosmetic modifications. Videos available online show how the popular movie franchise has inspired the drone racing community. Good stuff!
