It could be due to the relative smooth launch and the popularity of the Battlefield franchise that might explain why the game managed to debut at the number one position on the Gfk Chart-Track Top 40. In fact Hardline’s launch at the number one spot beat out its predecessor which debuted at number two back in November of 2013.
However it is possible that Hardline’s launch is at a less busy time of the year (since games tend to be aimed at a holiday release) which might explain its higher position on the charts, but it could also be thanks to Hardline’s new style that made it more intriguing. For those unfamiliar, Hardline does away with the military approach to the game and focuses on more urban combat between police and criminals.
This is definitely a change of pace and while there have been some reviews that did not look upon the game favorably, we suppose it was interesting enough where gamers were willing to pick up a copy. Other games on the chart includes Final Fantasy Type-0 HD at number two, Grand Theft Auto V in third, Dying Light in fourth, FIFA 15 in fifth, and Mario Party 10 in sixth.
