The Apple Watch’s pricing and availability was confirmed earlier this week during Apple’s Spring Forward event and given that the wearable is Apple’s foray into a product category, safe to say that many were eagerly anticipating the device which some believe could change the wearables industry.
However according to social media research company Fizziology, it turns out that maybe the Apple Watch might not have been the hottest thing to have been announced at the Spring Forward event. The company monitored social media posts from Twitter and based on their findings, it seems that the announcement of HBO Now proved to be more popular than the Apple Watch.
According to Ben Carlson, president of Fizziology, “This is a generation that loves their TV but they don’t want to consume it in traditional ways. I think the announcement by Apple really spoke to them — the lower price point on Apple TV, the near immediate availability of HBO Now.” They also found that those aged above 35 were twice as likely to discuss the Apple Watch compared to those aged 35 and under.
This led them to believe that perhaps the 35-49 year old market might be the ones more likely to purchase the device, which we suppose seems likely given how much some of the Apple Watch variants cost, but what say you? Which part of Apple’s Spring Forward event were you the most excited over? The Apple Watch? HBO Now? Refreshed MacBooks? Or the new MacBook?
