Android 5.0.1 Memory Leak Acknowledged By Google, Fix Incoming

If you have a handset running on Android 5.0.1 or later, you might be wondering why is it at times that your phone feels slower? For example you might notice how some apps restart on their own, free RAM drops sharply, and some apps disappear while you use them. Apparently all of this has to do with a memory leak issue that was discovered in Android 5.0.1 last year.

The good news is that if you’re wondering if the fix will ever arrive, it looks like it will in the near future. This is according to a recent update found on the Issue Tracker page of the AOSP website where Google stated that internally they have fixed the problem and will be issuing the fix in an upcoming update which will most likely be Android 5.1.1.

As you might have heard, Android 5.1 was recently released but according to a message left by Google, the problem is still in Android 5.1 meaning that if you have recently updated or have updated your Nexus handset to Android 5.1, the problem will still be there. No word on when Google will release Android 5.1.1, but here’s hoping that the fix will be coming in the very near future. We will keep our eyes peeled and update you guys accordingly.
