Xiaomi is a China-based company that has had huge success in China and other markets in Asia. Unfortunately the company’s offerings have yet to make a dent in the US as their presence is almost next to nothing, but apparently that is soon set to change. According to the rumors and speculation, Xiaomi could be thinking of setting up shop stateside.
Android Headlines have heard from their sources that Xiaomi is planning an event for the 12th of February in San Francisco, California. While it is unclear as to what the event could be about, some are speculating that it could be Xiaomi’s announcement of their plans to enter the North American market.
This hardly comes as a surprise as the North American market is one that the company has yet to tap into. It was also announced by Hugo Barra last year that the company would be working on making their entrance into North America this year, so the rumored 12th of February event could be about announcing it.
However given that the competition is pretty stiff in North America from other OEMs, it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi fares and if they will be able to hold their own.
