VLC Updates Media Player Apps For Variety Of Platforms

Now here is something that is worth checking out if you happen to be a huge fan of VLC – the cross-platform, open source media player. Apparently, the developers of VLC have just rolled out updated versions of VLC for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android in addition to new versions of the app for other platforms such as the likes of Android TV, Windows Phone, and Windows RT. Heck, VLC has also made a return to iOS not too long after Valentine’s Day this year.

This means that it would be the very first time that the VLC team has rolled out simultaneous updates across a slew of platforms, although not all of features happen to be available in each version of the media player app.

For instance, desktop Windows, Mac, and Linux users will be able to come across what seems to be an app store that is bundled with the app itself. This allows users of those versions to locate and install extensions without having to leave the app, which will include an extension that will assist you in hunting down subtitles for videos.

As for the Android app, it will now be able to utilize Android 5.0 APIs, feature elements of Material Design, as well as offer support for navigating with a gamepad.
