It was first reported earlier this month that Verizon could launch the BlackBerry Classic on February 26th. The carrier took its sweet time in confirming that this was indeed the launch date. A couple of days back Verizon did confirm that it will indeed start selling the BlackBerry Classic on February 26th. That day is today so interested customers can now pick up a unit from Big Red online.
Those who are waiting for the smartphone to arrive in Big Red’s stores will have to wait a bit. Today Verizon has only started selling the BlackBerry Classic online.
Verizon Wireless retail outlets are going to have the smartphone in stock from March 5th, so its not that long a wait, customers who would rather play around with the device first before picking it up will certainly wait until March 5th before making a decision.
Verizon is selling the BlackBerry Classic for $99 with a new two year service contract, that’s after the $50 mail-in rebate, those who would rather buy it outright can pay $399.99. Alternatively customers can also pick up the device on Verizon’s Edge plan.
Big Red is selling both versions, one that has a camera and one that doesn’t, that’s the only major difference between these versions.
