According to a report from yesterday, Valve had announced and confirmed that at GDC 2015 which is kicking off in the middle of next week, the company will be showing off their SteamVR hardware, which for those unfamiliar is basically a virtual reality headset that Valve has been working on.
Not much information is available regarding the device at this time so it’s really anyone’s guess as to what it might entail. However according to a recently discovered image that Valve uploaded onto their Steam Universe demo signup page, it seems that we now have a better idea of what to expect.
As you can see in the image above, it shows off what appears to be a virtual reality headset. The design is pretty straightforward and there’s nothing about it that stands out, although it is possible that once the final product is revealed we will have a better clue of its subtleties. However other than that, it looks like pretty much any other virtual reality headset we’ve seen so far.
The company is expected to face some stiff competition from the likes of Oculus which is now owned by Facebook, Sony and their Project Morpheus headset, and Microsoft with the company’s recently announced Hololens headset so it will be interesting to see what Valve is able to bring to the table.
