As it stands there are several companies involved in virtual reality, and it looks like at GDC 2015 which kicks off on the 4th of March, we could soon add Valve to that list. The company has recently confirmed that they will be using the event to launch what they are calling a “previously-unannounced SteamVR hardware system”.
Unfortunately not much is known about Valve’s SteamVR platform at the moment and what it entails, but it is safe to say that companies dabbling in virtual reality can look forward to competition. Valve also announced that they will be showing off the finalized design of the Steam Controller.
The Steam Controller was unveiled a couple of years ago but as some of you might recall, it has undergone some changes in its design which we can say is for the better. A report from earlier this year also suggested that the final design had been locked in so we guess GDC 2015 is where we can look forward to seeing it.
GDC is also where Valve will be showing off new living room devices, which we can only assume are the Steam Machines which were expected to go on sale last year, so hopefully Valve will have some good news for us next week.
