Earlier this year at CES 2015, Kodak announced the Kodak IM5 Android smartphone. This is Kodak’s first smartphone and it does pack some pretty decent specs, although in all honesty nothing to shout about. That being said Kodak did mention during CES that they are expecting to begin shipment of the phone at the end of Q1 2015, but no specific dates were mentioned.
However thanks to a recent sighting on UK retailer Clove’s website (via PhoneArena), it has been suggested that the phone will be in stock either late March or early April which seems to coincide with Kodak’s initial estimates. The price of the phone has also been listed for £189.98, although we’re not sure if this is the final price or if Clove could simply be making an educated guess.
In any case for those who might have missed our earlier report at CES 2015, the Kodak IM5 will feature a 5-inch HD display. Under the hood, a MediaTek octa-core chipset will be powering the handset which will also be accompanied by 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD.
The phone will also come equipped with a 13MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera and will run on Android 4.4 KitKat with Kodak’s own custom built UI, which according to the company has been designed to make it easy to take, store, share, and print photos.
