Twitch has announced that the very first TwitchCon will be hosted in its hometown of San Francisco, California. The event has been described as a “celebration of all things Twitch.” Additional details about the event will be revealed as it draws near. Right now the company has merely issued a “Save the Date” so that people who are interested in attending are aware of what the TwitchCon 2015 dates are.
Twitch is a popular game streaming service that lets gamers broadcast their sessions to a global audience. It has grown incredibly fast over the years which is why it probably caught Amazon’s eye, the online retail giant purchased it last year for nearly one billion dollars.
The service itself is just over four years old. By the end of 2013 it was serving 40 million users who were consuming over 100 minutes of video every single day on average.
At TwitchCon attendees will be able to mingle with their favorite broadcasters, get to experience live content from the convention center and listen to talks by the community’s “thought-leaders”. This event is being co-produced by Twitch and ReedPOP.
An initial schedule and a call of content will be revealed over the coming months. For now the company has only revealed that TwitchCon 2015 will take place between September 25-26, 2015 at Moscone West in San Francisco, California.
