Toshiba Has More Camera Modules For Project Ara

If you call yourself a smartphone fan, then there is every reason for you to get all excited about Google’s very own Project Ara, which is touted to make an appearance at Mobile World Congress later this year. Project Ara has caused its fair bit of ripples in the previous year, and it does look as though Toshiba of Japan will join up with the other players when it comes to showing off camera modules for Project Ara.

Recently, Toshiba showed off three camera parts for Project Ara, where one of them happens to be a 2MP front-facing selfie shooter, while the other two would be regular camera parts for the rear side of the device – which will carry a resolution count of 5MP and 13MP. The sensor size of the former happens to be 1.4um, while the other module would be 1.12um in size.

Do expect these parts to be mass produced in due time, and they ought to hit the public market some time in 2016 – which is still some way off, especially when we are just in the first quarter of 2015. Still, all of these happen to be part of Toshiba’s three-year development plans, and would jive with whispers of wider availability of Project Ara.
