Starting with its design, it is obvious that Olympus has decided to go with a more retro-looking design. According to its specs, it also seems to be a bit heavier by 40 grams, although this might not necessarily be a bad thing as some photographers do enjoy the extra heft. Also what’s interesting about the camera is that despite it having a 16MP sensor, it has the ability to capture 40MP stills.
According to Olympus, this is achieved “by moving the sensor between each shot and merging eight single exposures into one, the E-M5 Mark II delivers a 40-Megapixel image with breathtaking levels of detail and radiance.” The camera is also powered by the TruePic VII process which is also used in the OM-D E-M1 camera.
The camera also comes with a 3-inch touchscreen display, 5-axis image stabilization, and the ability to capture video in Full HD mode. The Olympus OM-D E-M5 MII is expected to be released in March where it will be priced at around the $1,100 mark which is admittedly rather pricey for a mirrorless setup.
