Speaking during Tesla’s earning’s call, the company’s CEO Elon Musk let slip that the company was working on a consumer battery pack designed for the home. In fact this isn’t a pipe dream or a long shot as the design is said to be complete and that production could begin in six months, although Telsa has yet to decide on a date on which it will be officially launched.
Musk appears to be rather excited about his offering, calling the battery pack “really great”. For those who are wondering why this sounds familiar, it is because last year during the company’s earning’s call, Musk had already revealed Tesla’s plan, but we guess it is now close to completion and ready for mass consumption.
“We are trying to figure out what would be a cool stationary (battery) pack. Some will be like the Model S pack: something flat, 5 inches off the wall, wall mounted, with a beautiful cover, an integrated bi-directional inverter, and plug and play,” said Musk last year. It will be interesting to see how Tesla approaches this and how different it would be from what Toyota and Nissan have proposed. So, anyone else excited for it?
