Oddly enough it seems that for now, Nintendo has decided to exclude titles such as their Smash Bros franchise, along with games licensed by Nintendo which includes franchises such as Pokemon and Bayonetta. This is very strange considering that games such as Smash Bros and Pokemon are very popular and to a certain extent are part of pop culture.
We’re not sure why Nintendo has decided to exclude those games, but for now they are although we’re wondering if Nintendo will change their minds down the road. So far Nintendo’s program has courted a lot of controversy and criticism from the gaming industry, with many gamers thinking that it’s unfair or silly that Nintendo would want to stifle fanmade videos.
According to YouTuber Felix Kjellberg (better known as PewDiePie), “What Nintendo are missing out on completely is the free exposure and publicity that they get from YouTube. What better way to sell or market a game, than from watching someone else (that you like) playing it and enjoying themselves?”
