Smartphones Could Feature Embedded Fingerprint Scanner In Display Soon
The South Korean biometric giant known as CrucialTek has managed to win a patent approval not too long ago concerning its embedded fingerprint sensing technology. This particular embedded fingerprint sensing technology will be able to be installed within an area on the display panel itself, and this translates to saving up more space, since there is no need to waste any precious space as the scanner or touch-based fingerprint reader currently resides in the home button of many handsets. There were rumors going around that such technology might have made its way to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6, but that did not seem to be the case at all.
Still, the embedded fingerprint sensing technology might actually debut some time in a handset next quarter – as hinted by CrucialTek in an interview earlier today. This is certainly news if it were to be officially announced and confirmed, so in the mean time, we will just have to be happy with the possibility of that happening, leaving us to speculate and scratch our heads as to which particular smartphone or tablet will be able to deliver under-glass finger scanning capability. Is there anyone out there who is bold enough to warrant a guess at this point in time?
