According to a recent sighting on GFXBench (via NPU), a mysterious tablet has shown up which has led some to believe that it could be the successor to the Lumia 2520. The specs on the benchmark reveal that it will be powered by a Qualcomm processor and will use an Adreno 420 GPU, which basically means that the Snapdragon 805 chipset will be its SoC of choice.
The listing also reveals a 10.1-inch QHD display and it will also run on Windows, which has us scratching our heads. Microsoft had earlier confirmed that tablets and devices smaller than 8-inches will not get the full Windows 10 desktop experience. This leaves either the possibility that Windows RT might not be dead, or that Microsoft will be making some exceptions for devices larger than 8-inches to run the ARM-version of Windows 10.
However this would be a very odd choice since we’re sure Microsoft would love to get the full Windows 10 version onto a tablet with such high-end specs. In any case it is possible that the device ran on GFXBench could simply be a prototype that Microsoft is testing which could account for the anomalies, but either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information all the same.
