Panasonic Reveals First Firefox OS-Powered Smart TVs

panasonic-firefoxPanasonic did make an announcement earlier this January at CES that they were working on a brand new range of TVs that will sport 4K displays, and these TVs will boast of smart TV software that are based on Firefox OS. Hence, it is nice to know that the company is starting to parade some of these Firefox OS-powered TVs, which will kick things off with a bunch of Panasonic VIERA TVs with LED displays, not to mention throwing in some of the company’s very first few models that sports curved screens.

These Panasonic TVs will arrive in a variety of sizes, starting from 40” and being able to go all the way to 65”, while there will also be top-of-the-line models that will feature what Panasonic has dubbed “4K Pro”, which so happens to be the description that the Japanese company uses to describe its technology that delivers superior color accuracy.

This will certainly set apart Panasonic’s new TVs from the rest of the crowd, as Firefox OS-based software would be difficult to find on other TVs even in the near future. However, it might be challenging enough to see whether Firefox OS-powered TVs are relevant in this day and age, especially in the long run. Image courtesy of Liliputing. [Press Release]
