Panasonic Delivers TVs With Freeview Play Support

It looks like the folks over at Panasonic are pretty busy today, having rolled out a Firefox OS-powered TV, not to mention support for Freeview Play to boot. Just in case you are scratching your head as to what Freeview is all about, it happens to be the UK’s most-watched TV service, where it offers up to 60 TV channels, where there will be a dozen high definition versions available, not to mention being accompanied by 25 radio stations.

This brand new Freeview Play service will also expand its offering by a considerable margin, which would include the addition of on-demand content and catch-up TV, not to mention a certain level of app support. Freeview Play can be enjoyed without any additional charge at all, it will be similar to that of the rest of the Freeview service, where you will have to own new hardware before enjoying it.

Hence, the first TVs in the market that are capable of supporting Freeview Play would be those from Panasonic, which would open up access to the platform in its 2015 range of VIERA televisions. Guy North, managing director of Freeview, claims that “Freeview Play will put viewers back in control, and we’re delighted that Panasonic is our first TV launch partner.”
