It looks like Oppo’s short stint as the world record holder when it comes to having the thinnest smartphone in the world will continue in Europe, where the Oppo R5 has already made an appearance over at Amazon’s UK site – not to mention the fact that it is also up for pre-order, now how about that? The Oppo R5 handsets are said to begin shipping from as early as February 20 – which would mean it would have missed the Valentine’s Day deadline, but no biggie since a smartphone as a gift is not exactly that romantic at all on February 14th.
Do bear in mind that the Oppo R5 is far from being a high end flagship device, as it is more of a mid-range handset. Hardware specifications of this bad boy include a 5.2” Full HD display, crammed into a rather svelte 4.85mm chassis. Apart from that, the Oppo R5 will run on a Snapdragon 615 chipset which has an octa-core processor, accompanied by the likes of an Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB RAM. One ought to take note that th 2,000mAh battery is not going to do it much good in the long run, especially when you take into account its screen size.
The asking price for a SIM-free Oppo R5 would be £296.99 a pop, and there is also the added advantage of laying claim to a free Oppo powerbank in order to provide its battery with that additional “kick”.
