That being said with such a disastrous launch, it doesn’t really come as a complete surprise to learn that Nintendo has officially decided not cancel the launch of the TVii service in Europe. Countries like the US and Japan received the feature back in 2012 and a launch in Europe was promised, but fast forward to today, we guess European Wii U owners will never get to experience the feature.
According to Nintendo’s official statement, “Due to the extremely complex nature of localising multiple television services across a diverse range of countries with varied licensing systems, regrettably we have taken the decision not to launch the Nintendo TVii service within the European region. Although on this occasion we did not anticipate such challenges, we will always strive to develop a range of entertaining experiences for all our users to enjoy.”
It is unclear as to what the future holds for the feature, but since it is pretty much baked into the Wii U’s firmware itself, we guess Nintendo will probably just leave it as it is, or perhaps the company might take this opportunity to improve on it. In the meantime what do you guys make of the TVii, and what would you change about it if Nintendo was looking to make improvements?
