While some of us prefer our cameras to be compact and sleek, there are some who might prioritize its ruggedness over its compactness. After all what use is a beautifully designed camera if it spoils once you drop it or when you accidentally get it wet, right? Now if you’re in the market for such a camera, Nikon has two new models that you might be interested in.
The company has recently announced the Nikon Coolpix AW130 and Coolpix S33, both of which have been designed to withstand some abuse meaning that you can take these cameras during your outdoor activities without worrying about damaging it. Starting with the Coolpix AW130, the camera will be waterproof up to depths of 100 feet, shockproof from drops as high as 7 feet, and freezeproof up to temperatures as low as 14F.
In terms of its specs, it will come with a 16MP CMOS sensor that can capture Full HD video, WiFi and NFC connectivity, a 3-inch OLED display, and built-in GPS, Maps, and POI technology. It will also come with a 5x optical zoom Nikkor ED glass lens (24mm-120mm f/2.8), with an additional 10x Dynamic Fine Zoom feature.
Moving on to the Coolpix S33, this camera isn’t as rugged compared to the AW130. It is waterproof up to depths of 33 feet, shockproof from heights of 5 feet, and freezeproof up to temperatures as low as 14F. It will come with a 13.2MP CMOS sensor, 3x zoom, the ability to shoot videos in Full HD and will come bundled with a bunch of effects that the photographer can apply within the camera itself.
In terms of availability, the Coolpix AW130 will be available in March 2015 in Yellow, Blue and Black for $350, while the Coolpix S33 will be available in March 2015 in White and Blue for a more affordable price of $150.
