Recently Nikon announced two new compact cameras aimed at the budget photographer, but if you think that you can afford to spend a little bit more on potentially better compact cameras, Nikon might have something for you in the form of the Nikon Coolpix S9900, Coolpix S7000, and the Coolpix S6900.
These three compact cameras will be priced between $200-$350 depending on your needs. Starting with the most expensive of the bunch, the Coolpix S9900 will feature a 16MP sensor and a 30x optical zoom lens that can reach 60x with the Dynamic Fine Zoom feature. It comes with a hybrid vibration reduction technology for its videos to reduce blur and camera shake, and will come with built-in GPS and POI technology.
Next up is the Coolpix S7000. This camera will also come with a 16MP CMOS sensor and will be able to record videos in Full HD resolution. It will be bundled with a 20x optical zoom Nikkor ED lens and 40x Dynamic Fine Zoom. It will feature Target-finding AF, WiFi and NFC connectivity, and a 3-inch LCD display. Just like the Coolpix S9900, this camera will also come with lens-shift VR technology.
Last but not least is the Coolpix S6900 which will feature a 3-inch vari-angle touchscreen. This allows users to angle the LCD display to get some interesting angles, or even selfies if that’s what you’re after. It will also come with a built-in kickstand and a front shutter release button, a 16MP CMOS sensor, a 12x optical zoom Nikkor ED glass lens, and built-in WiFi and NFC connectivity.
The Coolpix S9900 will be priced at $350, while the S7000 will go for $280, and the S6900 will retail for a more affordable $230. All three cameras are expected to be available in March.
