Nikon Coolpix P610 And L840 Zoom Cameras Unveiled

P610_BK_front34l_lo_w.high Lugging around a DSLR camera and a zoom lens can be tedious as zoom lenses tend to be big and bulky, not to mention the better ones tend to be pretty darn pricey too. However if you’d love to have a zoom lens but not have to deal with the hassle, Nikon has recently announced two new cameras – the Nikon Coolpix P610 and Coolpix L840 – that might be able to address some of your zoom needs.

The Coolpix P610 is a camera with a Nikkor ED glass lens with a 16MP CMOS sensor behind it. The camera also feature a whopping 60x optical zoom and for those who need the extra zoom, it will also feature a 120x Dynamic Fine Zoom that allows the photographer to zoom in a little bit more for fine tuning. It will also feature GPS and POI functionality that will allow the photographer to remember where their photos were taken, along with WiFi and NFC connectivity.

As for the Coolpix L840, its zoom isn’t as far as the P610. it will feature a 38x optical zoom and the ability to reach 76x with its Dynamic Fine Zoom feature. However it will also come with a Nikkor ED glass lens so in terms of lens quality, both cameras should be similar. The camera will sport a similar 16MP CMOS sensor and will also come with built-in Lens Shift Vibration Reduction technology that should help produce sharper images.

Both the Coolpix P610 and Coolpix L840 are expected to be made available in March. The former will see a price tag of $500 and will be available in Black or Red, while the latter will retail for $300 and will also be available in either a Black or Red finish.
